The first ever make-up and hairstyles competition in the entire North-East is being organised in District Library in Guwahati on May 2, to encourage and provide a national and international level platform to the beauty therapists, make-up artists, hairstylists, models - both amateur and professional of this region.

The competition which will provide opportunity to show the art and skill of the above mentioned aspirants, will be attended by renowned persons like Jawed Habib, hairstylist and world record holder, Blossom Kochhar, Aromatherapist, settled in Paris, Venketa Rao, from Chennai film industry etc, besides directors and producers of the NE region. Fashion photographers and model-cum-artist arrangers from outside the region like Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata are showing keen interest for the show.

Besides the cash prizes of Rs 10,000/-, 5,000/-, 2,500/- for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner, there are four best performers’ cash prizes. Wahida Rahman, a renowned jewellery designer from Assam, will sponsor bridal designer jewellery worth Rs 20,000/-, Rs 15,000/-, Rs 10,000/- respectively. Pearloric Beauty Clinic, a leading beauty clinic of Guwahati will sponsor the Lt Subala Mazumder memorial trophy and prize money. Many organisations have come forward to present the winners and participants with gift hampers and special offers. Like the first winner will get the opportunity to get higher education in beauty culture and hairdesinging from Habibs’ Hairstyles, where you have to spend Rs 17 to 25 thousands as fees. Likewise the 2nd winner will get free education in Signature training centre, the best beauty culture institute and the only member of the National Beauty Culturists’ League, Inc of Washington DC, USA. The show will be telecast live through Prag Channel and Maya Channels.

This photographic album of the participants will         be prepared by fashion photographer Kamal Barman. The audience will be entertained by Arundhati and her group from Kalakshetra, Chennai (Madras) who appeared in the National Geographic Channel besides performing in many other national and international channels and by a famous rock group.
