The Anal community concentated mainly in Chakpikarong area in Chandel district of Manipur, celebrated Chavan Kumhrim, the biggest harvest festival of the tribe with traditional fervour. This time the festival was celebrated at Chakpikarong with the theme, “gift of God.”

The daylong festival included a spectrum of cultural dances and fashion parade performed by a bevy of Anal beauties. The sitting MLA of Chandel Assembly constituency D. K. Karungthang attended the celebration as the chief guest while subdivisional officer of Chakpikarong Th. Chothe and ADC, Chandel Wurngam were the guests of honour.

Karungthang said that God would shower his blessings for peace, harmony and rapid development of the people as a whole. Stating that without peace there cannot be any sort of development, Karungthang said, “it is high time for everybody to realise its importance and work towards ushering in peace and development”.
