The Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation (DAF), founded in 1995, has instituted “Dhirubhai Ambani SSC Merit Reward” and “Dhirubhai Ambani Under Graduate Scholarship” schemes for physically handicapped students for the students of the North-East region. These schemes have been successfully implemented in the States of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa and Union Territory of Dadra Nagar Haveli, Diu and Daman, and now these have been extended to the North-Eastern states, including Sikkim.For the SSC Merit Reward scheme, the top five physically handicapped students in SSC examinations conducted by the respective State Boards of Education in March each year will be eligible. The total number of scholarships per State will be decided by the Foundation, depending upon the population and the number of districts. The minimum eligibility criteria of the reward is 60 per cent average marks in the Board examination. In the Under Graduate Scholarship scheme, the scholarship will be awarded to the five first students as decided by the Foundation depending upon the population and number of districts in each of the States securing the highest overall first division marks under the physically handicapped category at the HSC Examination conducted by the respective State Board of Secondary Education in March each year. | Assam | North East Enquirer (Headlines) | Nena Home Page | |
