The Manipur Government will abolish 14,385 posts in several departments as part of its downsizing programme while regularising services of 5000 employees, who are currently being paid on the basis of their working hours. Official sources said that the government order, to this effect, would become effective when several present regular employees of different posts retired from service while their vacant posts would be abolished.

The government at the same time however decided to regularise 5000 ‘work charge’ employees, now working on some kind of temporary basis, the sources said.
