Decorative stone industrial units to be set up in Nagaland

Nagaland Geology and Mining Department is embarking upon an ambitious plan to set up decorative stone industrial units in the State in consultation with reputed agencies in view of the great potential of growth of  this sector. Various agencies already established the proven deposits of minerals such as petroleum and natural gas, magnetite with nickle, cobalt and cromium, limestone and marble, coal, dimensional and decorative stone in various parts of Nagaland. This was disclosed by State Geology and Mining Secretary A. Dogra while speaking at a function at Dimapur in connection with the inauguration of a decorative and dimensional stone, plant sponsored by North Eastern Council (NEC). A similar unit is being set at Wazeho in Phek district were a cement plant is on run with raw material available in various parts of the district.

The Secretary informed that mineral explorations carried out by the Department of Mining and Geology, Central agencies such as Geological Survey of India (GSI) ONGC, Atomic Minerals division and Central Ground Water Board had already established deposits of mineral resources in Nagaland, but unfortunately their exploration on a commercial basis was yet to take place due to various "constraints."
