Protocol on Dhaka-Agartala bus service in offing

Bangladesh and India would soon sign a protocol for launching the Dhaka-Agartala bus service, Minister of State for External Affairs Ajit Panja said. Both the countries, he said, were working so that the service could be flagged off as soon as possible.
Road construction work was going on in 16-km stretch between Darga and Akhaura which was in a bad shape, he said.
Reacting to a news item telecast by a private TV channel in which a State minister had said that Bangladesh Government had suggested an alternative road through Comilla and Sonamura of India to which the State Government had reportedly agreed, Mr. Panja said, "They should know that the State Government has no authority to talk to any foreign government. The bus route is decided by the Governments of India and Bangladesh."
