The Arunalcal Pradesh Government has decided to implement the University Grants Commission’s revised pay scales for university and college teachers with effect from January 1,1996, Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Dera Natung said.

The government would also implement career advancement package and incentive scheme with effect from July 27, 1998, in recognition of services of the university and college teachers.

This revision will benefit about 190 teachers of all the seven colleges and the lone university of the State. About Rs 57 lakh will be required for this purpose per annum.

The schemes provides for revision of pay scales of the teachers, incentives for Ph. D and M Phill degree holders and also the career advancement package to the teachers for their placement in senior scale and selection grade scale of pay. This will also provide for improved conditions of promotion to the posts of reader and professor in the university, Mr. Natung said.
