Manipur Chief Minister W. Nipamacha Singh
has apprised the State Governor Ved Marwah about the boundary-related disputes with
Nagaland over Tungjoy village in the Senapati district. One police station was constructed at Khejo Khonoma in Nagaland bordering Manipur near Tungjoy. The villagers of the Tungjoy, however, said that while constructing the approach road the Nagaland police had encroached upon Manipurs land. This was the bone of contention. Nagaland Chief Minister S. C. Jamir and Manipur Chief Minister Wahengbam Nipamacha also had a telephonic talk on the issue. Mr. Singh is reported to have told his Nagaland counterpart that he was ready to extend all possible assistance to solve the issue. It is reported that the Nagaland Chief Minister has agreed to the suggestion. Mr. Jamir has also given the assurance that he will do whatever is necessary to bring about an amicable solution and that he will instruct concerned officials to rush to the disputed spot. Meanwhile the people of Tungjoy village of Senapati
district in Manipur are not happy with the way the State authorities have handled their
about hundred-year-old land dispute with the villagers of Khezhakenoma in Nagaland. |
