"B’desh sets an example of humanity": Tripura Governor

Tripura Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) K. M. Seth said Bangladesh had set an example of humanity before the world by expressing gratitude to the Indian Government for the contribution of the people of Tripura during the Liberation War in 1971. The gratitude shown to India by the people of Bangladesh for its sustained cooperation during its Liberation War is an unprecedented event in the history of freedom struggle of a country and this gesture would help strengthen the bilateral relations in the days to come, the Governor said. He was addressing a seminar on the contribution of Tripura in Bangla freedom struggle during the three-day Mukti Yoddha festival being held at Rabindra Bhawan in Agartala.

The Governor said the tribals and non-tribals of the State sheltered 16 lakh neighbours during the turbulent days of Liberation War and the moral support and the contribution made by them encouraged the Bangla freedom fighters to continue the struggle till the ultimate goal was achieved. A 70-member delegation from Bangladesh including Minister of Fisheries and Animal Resource Ministry Asam Abdur Raub, chief editor of Bangladesh Sambad Sangstha (BSS) Harun Habib, and poets, writers and freedom fighters had come to Tripura to participate in the three-day-long festival at Agartala.
