Parasuram Kund Mela in Lohit is on

Parasuram Kund Mela in Parasuram Kund near Wakro the Lohit district is a regular event since 1985. The mela is held both at district headquarters, Tezu and Parasuram Kund which is 215 kms from Dibrugarh. During the mela held from January 1 to 31, pilgrims and common visitors from all over the country and Nepal visit the place for sight-seeing and holy dip at the famous Lohit river. As earlier years, this year also the district administration of Lohit has made elaborate arrangement for security and welfare of visitors at Parasuram Kund to facilitate safe and comfortable visit of pilgrims. To enable the visitors to obtain easy entry, district administration has also made suitable provision for issue of Inner Line Permit for 30 days both at Dirak check-gate and Sunpura check gate for visitors from outside.

 To reach Parasuram Kund visitors can travel from either Tinsukia or Dibrugarh via Rupaisiding near Doomdooma to Dirak check-gate where Inner Line Parmit will be issued on the spot to them. Another route is through Sadiyaghat and Sunpura to Tezu, the district headquarters where a big shopping fare is held in January every year. For safe and convenient journey of pilgrims, Lohit district administration has also been liaising with Tinsukia district administration to maintain security along both routes.
