Siyem replaced The Syiem of Mylliem, Laborous Manik Siyem (Chief of Mylliem), has been suspended by the executive committee of the Khasi Hills District Council over a land dispute between the Dorbar Hima (the council of elders) and the Kur Siyem (the chief clan of the Syiemship). Manik Siyem has been replaced by Amstrong Siyem, as the acting Siyem of Mylliem. But the move has been resented by elders of the community as a civil case in this connection was pending at the district council court.
