Lyngdoh for making use of scientific advancement

Meghalaya Chief Minister B. B. Lyngdoh has appealed to the people of the State to utilise development opportunities offered by the Centre’s Science and Technology department to improve the economic conditions of the State.

Addressing a meeting of the Meghalaya State Council of Science, Technology and Environment, Mr. Lyngdoh said that his Government was willing to help those who were interested in making use of scientific advancements in disciplines like agriculture, health or power generation.

Mr. Lyngdoh said that during the Ninth Plan period, the council would be introducing appropriate technology in various fields to enhance people’s participation to raise productivity and economic upliftment of the masses.

Meghalya Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Donkt said efforts were made to generate mass awareness on the advancement of science and technology in improving economic conditions of the people.

The Union Secretary of Science and Technology, Prof. Ramamurthy asked the scientists to identify fields which could help the people in improving their economic conditions.
