Financial assistance for construction of an International Centre for Trade and Commerce in Guwahati is under active consideration of Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO).The proposed trade centre at Fancy Bazar (Guwahati) with a loan of Rs. 10 crore and water supply improvement scheme for Guwahati with a loan of Rs 100 crore are under active consideration of HUDCO, the corporation sources said. Under its urban infrastructure development portfolio, the financial institution sanctioned 29 schemes involving Rs 248 crore in the North-east so far. HUDCO sanctioned during the year the storm drainage improvement scheme for Guwahati city with a loan of Rs 67 crore, the sources said adding that a major programme for New Shillong township would be launched during the current year. Under its housing portfolio, the corporation sanctioned Rs 227.64 crore for the North-Eastern States during the current fiscal and extend support to about one lakh dwelling units in the region under the Centres.
