Daying Ering remembered on death anniversary The 30th death anniversary of Dr. Daying Ering, the architect of modern Arunachal Pradesh, was observed at Congress Bhawan in Itanagar recently. The death anniversary was organised by the National Students Union of India (NSUI), Arunachal Pradesh unit. Former home minister Neelam Taram, minister of state for health and family welfare T Tapak, APCC vice-president Maichel Pangin and APCC general secretary Mokar Riba and minister of state for public health engineering Ninong Ering dwelt on the life and contributions of the leader. The speakers remembered him as a staunch nationalist and recalled his contributions towards national unity and integration. Taram said that Daying Ering would be remembered as a father figure of Arunachal Pradesh for pioneering the three-tier Panchayati Raj movement. His son Ninong Ering said that his father was a peoples man who had great love, faith and confidence in youths and students. Mokar Riba proposed that a road in the capital be named after the pioneer. Her proposal was supported by Maichel Pangin. NSUI state president Nabam Niba Hina conducted the meeting. Two minutes silence was also observed to pay respect to the great leader, who was the first Union minister from the State in Jawaharlal Nehrus cabinet. |
