Mizoram plea for Central aid for urban poor The Mizoram Government has requested the Centre to provide an additional Rs. three crore annually to help expand its scope to semi-urban areas. According to rural development department (RDD), at present the Centre was providing Rs. seven crore under the border areas development scheme which was not sufficient to help urban poor families. Meanwhile, the RDD and Mizoram Economic
Association have requested North East Electricity and Power Grid Corporation (NEEPCO) to
enhance employment opportunity to the locals in their Tuiral hydel electricity project. At
present most of the NEEPCO labour force comes from outside the State. |
