Trinamool Congress has no expansion plan in Assam: Panja

Trinamool Congress president Ajit Kumar Panja said his party had no expansion plan during the forthcoming elections for the North-East.

According to Mr. Panja, the TMC has been receiving letters of request from various parts of Assam to open up units. He named the places as Dhubri, Silchar, Badarpur, Lumding.

The TMC and BJP have finalised seat sharing in West Bengal, said Mr. Panja, TMC will contest 29 seats leaving 13 seats to the BJP to contest in the State.

Evaluating the tenure of BJP-led coalition at the Centre, Mr. Panja said, “Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee did an excellent job, but the cabinet appeared to be inexperienced as it failed to avoid avoidable problems.”

He said, the onion crisis, price-rise of agricultural commodities, Bezbarua issue, imposition and withdrawal of President's rule in Bihar could have been avoided. "There is no question of TMC tying up with the NCP," the former union minister said.
