Gegong Apang is frustrated: Wanglat Arunachal Pradesh Finance Minister L. Wanglat has denied any politician-ultra nexus in Changlang and Tirap districts and criticised former chief minister Gegong Apang and BJP national secretary P. B. Acharya for their recent allegations. The situation in the two districts was not as alarming as claimed by the two leaders despite of some cases of abduction and killings, he said, adding nobody should provoke under such circumstances. Mr. Wanglat, who represents Tirap and is also the APCC spokesman, told that he had apprised the Governor of the situation in the two districts. Cautioning Mr. Apang against making 'wild allegations' to 'malign' Mithi Government, he claimed that they were being made as the former chief minister was frustrated as the people have switched their support to the Congress. He alleged that some leaders who joined Mr. Apang's Arunachal Congress recently have nexus with underground elements and he could prove it as and when required. He disagreed that there was any demand for Union Territory status for the two districts and its possible link with the greater Nagaland demand by some Naga organisations. But the people have the right to demand something if it was not anti-national or unconstitutional, he added. About Mr. Apang's apprehensions of security of election candidates, he said the Government would adequately provide it to those contesting the Lok Sabha and State Assembly polls from the two districts. |
