BJP seeks Chief Secy’s intervention in village head appointment

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh unit has requested the State Chief Secretary’s personal intervention in the matter of appointment of gaonburah (village heads) and issuing of arms licences. In a memorandum to the Chief Secretary, chairman of Labour Cell of BJP and East Kameng district BJP president Madang Sonam alleged that the appointment of gaonburahs and issue of arms licence in the East Kameng district has become a major concern for the people.

He alleged that local MLAs and ministers are intervening in the matter of appointment of gaonburah and the Deputy Commissioner was forced to appoint the gaonburah on political consideration. He said gaonburah in the village is a traditional institution which plays a vital role in administration. The arms licences in the district is also issued on the advice of  the MLAs and ministers, specially to the particular party workers.
