KVIC to launch project in Arunachal The Khadi and Village Industry Commission (KVIC) has decided to launch a pilot project for the development of rural industries in Arunachal Pradesh. | This has been stated by Dr. Ahesh Sharma, chairman of the KVIC. Dr. Sharma has also informed that the Centre has also decided to take up 100 clusters per year throughout the country for rural industrialisation with special emphasis on marketing. The KVIC chairman was recently on a three-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh. During his visit, he called on State Governor Mata Prasad and requested him to provide financial help for building up infrastructural facilities for setting up rural industries. The State Governor has reportedly agreed to the proposal. Dr. Sharma also met Chief Minister Mukut Mithi and few high ranking officials and discussed the development of khadi and village industries in the region. The State Government has also submitted a nine-point memorandum to the KVIC chairman for rapid industrialisation. Dr. Sharma informed that a special task force needed to be set up for preparing action plan for the rural industrialisation in Arunachal Pradesh. He further revealed that the KVIC and the State Government had agreed to work together for achieving the desired result in this direction. Dr. Sharma said that liberal finance would be made available for the development of khadi and village industries in the North-East region.Dr. Sharma had inaugurated a multi-disciplinary training centre to be run by the Arunachal Pradesh Seva Sangh, a voluntary organisation of the State. He also inaugurated the head office of the Seva Sangh at Doimukh. |
