Manipur yet to decide on white paper on games

Although opposition parties like Manipur People's Party (MPP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are strongly demanding a white paper on the expenditure incurred in the recently concluded National Games, Manipur Chief Minister W. Nipamacha Singh informed that his Government was yet to decide on this issue. He hinted that the importance of producing a white paper would be discussed soon in the State cabinet.

He said that in order to bring the misguided youths back to the national mainstream, the police was directed not to take any sort of action against them during the fifth National Games as a first step.

However, he further said that Manipur was not a ceasefire zone like Nagaland and the State police was taking actions against the ultras. The Manipur Chief Minister cited the arrest of N. Oken, vice chairman of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) as a major success of the State police.

Nipamacha Singh expressed confidence that his Government would complete its term and claimed that there was no difference in his party.
