5th National Games closing ceremony
A moving and memorable sight to behold

As the sacred flame was extinguished, marking the end of the 5th National Games, a tinge of sadness was visible all around.

After 12-days of high voltage action in one of most fascinating sporting arenas in the country, it was time to depart, from the simple, sports loving and wonderful people of Manipur.

It was a wonderful fortnight for all those present in Manipur. The Games not only bettered one world record, 50 national and 79 games record, but have also been able to live by its theme of unity, peace, cooperation and goodwill.

As many as 6, 233 sportspersons from all over the country, 1033 more than the last edition at Bangalore participated in the games. Thus making the 5th National Games the largest sporting event of the country so far. Manipur, as well as the North Eastern
