Nyokum Yullo celebrated The Nyishi community of Arunachal Pradesh celebrated 'Nyokum Yullo', one of their major festivals, with traditional enthusiasm. Addressing a huge gathering on the occasion at Nirjuli, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Mata Prasad greeted the people and prayed to the deity of the Nyokum Yullo to shower blessing for peace, prosperity and happiness. The Governor cautioned the people of the State to be vigilant as westernisation was threatening to finish their age-old moorings. Arunachal had been maintaining a distinct identity by preserving and promoting its traditional values and cultural ethos and it was evaluated by others as a trend-setter. Once it is polluted with glamour of the west, the identity will be lost to eternity, the Governor said. NENA |
