The cheque was handed over to Mrs. Verma by the chief secretary of Manipur. The Manipur Chief Minister has requested the Prime Minister to consider granting one LPG agency in favour of Smt. Verma as a special dispensation to enable her to sustain the family.

The Chief Minister and the chief secretary have also requested their counterparts in Bihar for allotment of a residential flat/house to Vinita Verma. The State Government is also considering grant of special pension to the bereaved family.

Another IAS officer of 1994 batch of Manipur-Tripura Cadre, Dasrath Prasad died earlier at the hands of extremists. The State Government has sanctioned special pension, granted Rs. 5 lakh ex-gratia and taken steps for extending other similar benefits as in the case of Viraj Verma.
