Cong promises to lift AFSPA In an effort to woo electorate in Manipur, the Congress in its election manifesto has promised to completely lift AFSPA from Manipur. On the issue of corruption, the party has vowed to effectively enforce Lokayukta. In return of these two major promises the party has sought third straight mandate from the electorate. 
It’s election time too in Mizoram 510 village councils in Mizoram, excluding the three autonomous district councils of Chakma, Lai and Mara, will vote to elect their representatives on February 23.
NSCN (K) not to participate in elections While rival faction NSCN (IM) is reportedly involved in Manipur Assembly elections, NSCN (K) has reiterated its stance that it would not be involved in the Indian election process under any circumstances stating that the elections had nothing to do with Naga national politics.

Tripura open to investment from B’desh  The ruling Left Front government in Tripura is ready to accept investment from Bangladesh . This has been stated by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar. The Chief Minister opined that India and Bangladesh are natural partners in development.
Arunachal demands special package The Arunachal Pradesh government has requested the Centre to provide a special package to the state during the 12th Plan period to boost the agriculture sector.
Tripura for special financial provision in budget Tripura has demanded special financial provision in the next budget as 13th Finance Commission had deprived the State to a large extent. 
Finance Minister Badal Choudhury placed this demand in a written speech in the pre-budget discussion of Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee with his state counterparts. He mentioned that the state was deprived from getting gap grant of Rs 10,499 Cr for next five years.
