It was the home of prehistoric cults which merged with Tantric Hinduism. Majuli, the worlds largest river island, located in Assam has a 15th Century Monastery that houses medieval manuscripts, musical instruments and miniature paintings. Other tourist attractions include the State Museum, which has a fine collection of tribal artefacts and handwoven silks, Kamakhya temple, Umananda, Kaziranga Game sanctuary ( Home of endangered Indian one-horned Rhino), Manas Sanctuary and Saraighat bridge. |
